At present Jadavpur University offers two distance education courses ,they are as follows:
- A two-year course in multimedia and web technology and
- A three-year M Tech. in information technology.
Distance Learning at Jadavpur University are the first in the country to offer an M Tech. in distance education. Distance Learning in India is an attempt at convergence of traditional and open systems of education that would benefit people in marginalized area. The course fees are quite nominal and affordable. New schemes in Distance Learning at Jadavpur University also include collaborations with foreign universities. Jadavpur University is designing distance education courses in partnership with Dhaka University, University of Vienna and Brunel University of the UK to enable students across the nook and corner of India to pursue courses of their choice keeping in mind the time flexibility and their other interests.
The first multi-modal Distance Learning at Jadavpur University was launched recently and it promises to revolutionize non-contact courses. The knowledge is imparted through most of sophisticated way. Each student is given a study kit comprising CDs and printed material. They can also log onto the official website of Jadavpur University using your registration password and listen to lectures, take tests and browse through the study material.
